to stay close.

02 · The belief
Growing independence doesn't have to mean growing apart.
This isn't about controlling kids. It's about helping them become capable — together.

Real life
What RISE looks like on a Tuesday.
Instead of: Drive it to school. Lecture in the car.
Try this: Let them handle it with the teacher. Later, ask: “What could help next time?”
Instead of: Wait it out. Pretend it didn't happen.
Try this: Reset first. Then come back: “I didn't like how I said that. Can we try again?”
Instead of: Remind louder.
Try this: Agree on one cue together. Then give them room to try — and miss.
Instead of: “You'll be fine.”
Try this: Try the 60-Second Reset together. Then: “What's one small next step?”
Instead of: Confiscate. Battle.
Try this: Make a family tech agreement — and parents follow it too.
Instead of: Grip the door handle. Narrate every mistake.
Try this: Agree on signals beforehand. Debrief after, not during.
Instead of: Jump in with advice.
Try this: Listen before solving. Ask: “Do you want ideas, or just to vent?”
Instead of: Do the forms for them.
Try this: Sit beside them. They type, you coach.
